Walking Trail from MB to St. Jax (Reception Venue):

From MB building, the St Jax is a short, 350-meter stroll down the street.

MB Building to 1439 Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, Enter from the Rue Bishop entry to St Jax

• Total Distance: ~350 m
• Estimated Walking Time: 5 minutes

1. Depart from the Concordia University, John Molson Building.
2. Head south for a few meters toward Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, then turn left (east) onto Sainte-Catherine.
3. Landmark to look for: As you walk, you will pass Place Norman-Bethune, a small public square featuring a prominent white marble statue at the intersection of Guy Street and de Maisonneuve.
4. Continue walking east for about two blocks past Rue Mackay and Rue Bishop.
5. Arrive at your destination: 1439 Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, located on the left-hand side just before reaching Crescent Street.
6. Enter from the Rue Bishop entry to St Jax (not the Sainte-Catherine)

Plenary Events at Montréal Grand Quai

Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the Grand Quai. There are several convenient ways to get there:

Walking – Approximately a 40-minute walk from the MB Building.

Public Transit – Accessible by metro and bus.

Uber or Driving – Ride-share services and personal vehicles are also convenient options.

Step 1: The Modern Core to the Entertainment District

1. Depart from the Concordia University, John Molson Building.
2. Walk east along Boulevard de Maisonneuve Ouest or Sainte-Catherine Street.
3. Landmark to look for: As you cross University Street (Robert-Bourassa Boulevard), look left to spot the historic Roddick Gates at the main entrance of the McGill University campus.
4. Arrive at Place des Arts, entering the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles. Take a moment to view the sprawling public plazas, large fountain installations, and grand concert halls.

Step 2: The Southward Transition

1. From Place des Arts, turn south (right) onto Rue Jeanne-Mance or Rue Saint-Urbain.
2. Walk past the Complexe Desjardins indoor plaza and edge along the western side of Montreal’s Chinatown.
3. Landmark to look for: Look out for the Palais des Congrès, notable for its massive, vibrant multicolored glass facade.

Step 3: The Heart of Old Montreal

1. Cross over Avenue Viger Ouest (above the Ville-Marie highway trench) to enter the historic old quarter.
2. Walk straight toward Place d’Armes.
3. Landmarks to look for: * The monumental square itself, surrounded by layers of Canadian architectural history (including the neo-classical Bank of Montreal Head Office and the Art Deco Aldred Building).

• The twin towers of the grand Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica, situated on the south side of the square.

Step 4: The Waterfront Promenade

1. Head south for one block past the Basilica to hit Rue de la Commune Ouest.
2. Turn right and walk west along the wide waterfront promenade.
3. Landmark to look for: Take in panoramic views of the St. Lawrence River, the green lawns of the historic piers, and the iconic geometric structure of Habitat 67 in the distance.
4. Arrive at your final destination: Grand Quay of the Port of Montreal.
