Benevento is an excellent base for exploring a remarkable part of southern Italy. The city itself offers a rich combination of Roman, Lombard, medieval, and modern landmarks, while the surrounding area includes historic towns, royal residences, vibrant cities, world-famous archaeological sites, and some of Campania’s most spectacular coastal scenery.
Most of the main sights in Benevento can be visited on foot. For destinations outside the city, the easiest options are usually car or train, depending on the destination.
