Tue 6 Oct 2026 11:00 - 12:30 at Mars - ISERN Session 5

No, this is not a session about AI! However, AI is certainly one of the major factors pushing us all to produce results faster, to keep up with changes in software engineering practice. What are we doing in our labs and research teams to get things out the door while they’re still relevant? Are there certain types of contributions that benefit from a streamlined process, and are there others where the risks are too great? What do we lose in the process? When does it make sense to take a non-empirical approach? What are the pros and cons? Is research ever something we should think about “speeding up”? This is an interactive, discussion-based session in which we hope to share approaches we are trying (but maybe not talking about anywhere else), and getting feedback on them.
