Abstract

This paper presents a Contextual Architecture using Apache Kafka to modernize legacy ecosystems. Applying Design Science Research (DSR) across seven enterprise implementations, the solution achieved a peak capacity of 400,000 TPS and 5 billion daily events. By aligning technical choices with Team Topologies, we reduced product lead times from 24 to 6 months (75% gain). We introduce the Event Efficiency Score (EES) to demonstrate how this sociotechnical approach outperforms commercial iPaaS in cost and reliability.
