Classic software evolution visualization approaches, like GitHub’s network graph, run into scalability issues when displaying large versioning histories, due to factors such as the sheer number of files and branches. We present Nautilus, a Pharo-based tool which represents the history of repositories as interactive spiral visualizations. We developed Nautilus with scalability as a primary concern. The efficient use of visualization space is paired with an in-browser representation that can indeed handle repositories of arbitrary size.
