History of programming languages is filled with experiments, some more successful than others. Many of these experiments continue their lives now as fully matured — sometime even legacy — products, carrying the decisions taken at the time of their design, over to the modern infrastructure. In this talk, I can go deeper into this topic, zooming in on major milestones to reevaluate the paths that have already been explored, as well as less researched ones. By understanding the past, we can discuss the future and take deliberate evidence-informed steps to the envisioned direction. There will be concrete examples as well as trends analysis.
