Name:David Lizcano Casas
Bio:

I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science (with honors, 2010) and a M.Sc. in Research in Complex Software Development (with honors, 2008) from the Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM), where I graduated top of my class. My early academic achievements opened opportunities for research stays at world-class institutions such as MIT (Boston) and Stanford University (California) — experiences that shaped my scientific and professional perspective.

Currently accredited as a Full Professor, I have more than 15 years of teaching and research experience at the Madrid Open University (UDIMA). I hold the I3 Research Excellence Accreditation and an “A” rating for Research Excellence under the ANECA ACADEMIA program (the Spanish National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation). My academic record includes two recognized six-year research periods, over 60 JCR-indexed publications in top-quartile journals across Computer Science, Education, and Technology, and leadership in more than 20 national (Knowledge Generation Program) and European (FP7, H2020, Horizon Europe, LIFE, among others) research projects.

Beyond academia, I actively contribute to scientific and technical expert committees in Spain (AEI – State Research Agency), Europe (European Commission, SEPIE), and Latin America (CONCYTEC, MESCYT, among others). I have participated in more than 200 international conferences as an organizer, Technical Program Committee member, or General Chair, and have collaborated in over 50 European R&D projects. My main research interests include Web Engineering, Human–Computer Interaction, End-User Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence applications across multiple domains.

As a frequent collaborator with universities such as UPM, University of Seville, Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), and the University of A Coruña, I lead a recognized research group of excellence with more than a decade of international impact. My work continues to focus on advancing human-centered, interdisciplinary research that connects innovation, education, and technology.
