I am a Computer Engineer by training with a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering. My research is centered on the preventive maintenance of software system architectures, the backbone of today’s digital infrastructure, through the application of artificial intelligence. Rooted in the foundational principles of software architecture, my work seeks to advance resilient, trustworthy, and maintainable systems that evolve gracefully. I am particularly interested in applying these insights to emerging software architectures, especially those integrating AI/ML components and quantum software systems. My interdisciplinary expertise in artificial intelligence and software engineering drives my contributions to autonomous vehicles, intelligent transport systems, agriculture, and chemical engineering, leading to evidenced impacts, particularly within agriculture. I am also committed to the future of computer science software engineering education, focusing on equipping tomorrow’s systems and software architects with the skills necessary to thrive in an AI-driven world. As a dedicated academic and educationist, I value consistent and transparent communication with students and programme teams. I adopt a ‘compassionately strict’ approach that has significantly improved NSS, PTES, and PRES scores under my leadership as an undergraduate and postgraduate programme lead and as the Faculty Head of Research students, respectively, over the last 10 years. Beyond teaching and research, I actively contribute to institutional and international collaboration. I have supported the timely submission of research outputs, fostered partnerships with trans-national educational collaborators, and mentored women in computing both informally and through my past roles as Vice-Chair of the ACM UK Women’s Chapter and European Volunteers Network Lead for ACM Europe’s Women’s Chapter, and currently as advisor.
