Dr. Mike Klymenko is a Research Scientist with the Software Systems team at CSIRO’s Data61. A theoretical physicist by training, he specializes in computational physics and chemistry, with a focus on semiconductors and quantum computing. He earned his PhD in Optics and Laser Physics from Kharkiv National University, Ukraine, in 2012. As part of his doctoral research, he was awarded DAAD PhD scholarship for a one-year project (2007–2008) at Philipps-University Marburg, Germany, where he investigated many-body effects in semiconductors.
Dr. Klymenko has held research positions at the University of Liège (Belgium) and RMIT University (Australia), contributing to cutting-edge work in the modeling of materials for quantum technologies. His current research lies at the intersection of software engineering, quantum AI, and quantum computing. He is especially interested in advancing the efficiency and reliability of quantum software development, helping to bridge the gap between theoretical innovation and real-world implementation.
