Saran Wongmahacharoen is a doctoral student of the Transnational Law and Policy program at Yokohama National University (YNU) under the Graduate School of International Social Sciences. He received his LL.B from Nagoya University before receiving LL.M from University College London, specializing in Environmental Law and Policy. He worked in RK Medtech, a pharmaceutical equipment startup, as a legal assistant before participating in research and capacity-building projects by international institutions. He joined Aspen Institute (Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs) as a project implementation intern, in which he assisted with workshops on climate metrics, particularly for SMEs, and researched on the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Pacific Islands. He then joined UNIDO as a project support for the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE), where he contributed to the various stages in the Thailand regional projects, from policy and legal research, drafting TOR and fund proposals, to helping facilitating stakeholders’ meetings. His main research interest currently lies in green and brown subsidies and their tensions with international trade and environmental law.
