Call for Demonstrations

Overview

The APSEC 2026 Demonstrations Track aims to make the software engineering community aware of new advances in our field through compelling demonstrations that help advance research and practice. The track is a highly interactive venue where researchers and practitioners can demonstrate their tools and discuss them with attendees.

Scope

Tool-based demonstrations describe novel aspects of early prototypes or mature tools. Each demonstration must clearly communicate the following to the audience:

• The envisioned users of the tool
• The software engineering challenge it proposes to address
• The methodology it implies for its users
• The results of validation studies already conducted (for mature tools), or the design of planned studies (for early prototypes)

Highlighting scientific contributions through concrete artifacts is a critical supplement to traditional APSEC research papers. A demonstration provides the opportunity to communicate how a scientific approach has been implemented or how a specific hypothesis has been assessed — including implementation and usage details, data models and representations, and APIs for tool and data access.

Note: Authors of regular research papers are encouraged to submit an accompanying demonstration paper.

Evaluation Criteria

Each submission will be reviewed by at least three members of the demonstration selection committee. Submissions will be evaluated on:

Relevance	Relevance of the proposed demonstration for the APSEC audience
Technical Soundness	Technical quality and rigor of the submission
Originality	Originality of the underlying ideas
Video Quality	Quality of the presentation in the associated video
Usefulness	Potential applications and practical usefulness of the tool
Literature	Degree to which relevant literature is considered

Submission Guidelines

Submissions must conform to the conference submission and formatting instructions. The following criteria apply:

Paper Requirements

• Submissions may not exceed four (4) pages, including all text, references, and figures.
• Papers must be submitted in PDF format.
• A submission must not have been previously published in a demonstration form.

Video Requirements

Each submission must be accompanied by a short video (3–5 minutes) illustrating the demonstration. The video should:

1. Provide an overview of the tool’s capabilities and/or dataset characteristics
2. Include a walkthrough of some of the tool’s capabilities and/or data analysis process
3. Where appropriate, include clarifying voice-over and/or annotation highlights
4. Be engaging and exciting for the viewer

All videos must be uploaded to YouTube and made publicly accessible during the review period.

Tool Availability

• The submission must contain a link to the publicly available tool and its usage instructions.
• Optionally, if the tool is open-source, the submission should link to the corresponding repository.

Reviewing Model

This track uses a single-anonymous reviewing model — authors do not know who the reviewers are. Please include the authors’ identities in the submission materials.

At the end of your abstract, please append the URL at which your demo video can be found.

Authors of successful submissions will have the opportunity to revise both the paper and the video (and its hosting location) by the camera-ready deadline.
