Call for Papers

Goal and Scope

The EDOC 2026 Doctoral Consortium (DC) is a dedicated forum for PhD students to present their early-stage research, discuss their work-in-progress, and receive constructive feedback from experienced researchers in the Enterprise Computing field.

The DC is intended for students who have defined their research topic and have a concrete research plan, but who are still in a stage where feedback can significantly influence the direction of their work (typically 1st or 2nd-year PhD students). The goal is to provide a supportive environment to:

  • Discuss the goals, methods, and results of your research project.
  • Receive specific guidance on your research approach and thesis validation.
  • Interact with other PhD students and establish a professional network.
  • Engage with senior mentors from the EDOC community.

Topics of Interest

The Doctoral Consortium invites submissions on all topics relevant to the EDOC conference. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Enterprise Architecture & Engineering: Methods, frameworks, reference models, and tools.
  • Model-Based Software Engineering: Domain-specific languages (DSML), digital twins, and low-code platforms.
  • Service-Oriented Architectures: Service composition, orchestration, policies, and contract definition.
  • Enterprise Security: Threat modeling, access control, blockchain, and privacy-preserving technologies.
  • Business Process Management (BPM): Process mining, RPA, compliance, and decision management.
  • Semantics & Information Management: Ontologies, knowledge graphs, and data quality/trustworthiness.
  • Advanced Analytics & AI in Enterprise: Generative AI, LLMs for enterprise modeling, and predictive analytics.

Submission Guidelines

To participate, students must submit a paper describing their doctoral research project. The paper should be single-authored (or co-authored with supervisors, though the student must be the first author).

Format Requirements

  • Length: Papers must be between 6 and 8 pages (excluding references).
  • Style: Submissions must follow the Springer LNCS format (PDF).
  • Submission System: Papers should be submitted via EasyChair at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cbiedoc2026 (Select the “Doctoral Consortium” track).

Content Structure

Submissions should clearly address the following aspects:

  1. Context and Motivation: What is the general area of the research?
  2. Problem Statement: What is the specific scientific problem? Why is it relevant? (Justify with literature/observations).
  3. Related Work: What approaches already exist, and why is the problem not yet solved? (Gap analysis).
  4. Research Methodology: What scientific method are you proposing to address the problem?
  5. Preliminary Results: Any proposed solution or early findings obtained so far.
  6. Evaluation Plan: How do you plan to validate your results?

Review and Selection Process

Papers will be peer-reviewed by at least three members of the Doctoral Consortium Committee. Selection is based on:

  • Technical quality and clarity of the problem statement.
  • Soundness of the proposed research methodology.
  • Feasibility of the evaluation plan.
  • The potential for the student to benefit from the DC feedback (i.e., work is not “too finished” nor “too early”).

Important Dates

  • Paper submission: 19 June 2026
  • Author notification: 17 July 2026
  • Camera-ready submission: 7 August 2026

Papers will be reviewed in the traditional way in one review round. Submissions must have at most 15 pages (plus bibliography), and must follow the Springer CS Style (an Overleaf LaTeX template is available). The proceedings will be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP) series.
