Call for Papers
The EASE'26 Journal First Track aims to foster the presentation and promotion of empirical-oriented journal papers published in the participating high-quality software engineering journals. By attending and presenting, authors can amplify the impact of their published research by sharing it with the EASE community, gain valuable feedback from both researchers and practitioners, and build meaningful connections and collaborations within the EASE community.
The conference will be held between June 9-12, 2026 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
The track welcomes papers aligning with the conference's scope and focus areas listed as topics for the EASE'26 Research track call.
Papers accepted or published in the following journals are candidates to be presented in this track:
- IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE)
- ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology (TOSEM)
- Empirical Software Engineering (EMSE)
- Information and Software Technology (IST)
- Journal of Systems and Software (JSS)
- Journal of Software Engineering Research and Development (JSERD)
- Journal of Software Evolution and Process (JSEP)
- Science of Computer Programming (SCP)
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Journal-First Track, submissions must meet the following criteria:
- The paper must have been published or accepted in one of the software engineering journals enlisted above.
- The paper must be accepted or published between February, 20th 2024 and February, 20th 2026.
- The content must have a strong empirical perspective.
- The paper has not been presented at, and is not under consideration for journal-first programs of other conferences.
- The paper must present research results not previously reported/presented at conferences, workshops, or similar events. Therefore, journal papers extending previous conference papers are not eligible for submission.
Submission Process
When your paper meets the above criteria, you are invited to submit a one-page proposal. The proposal should include the following information:
- Title: The title of the journal article.
- Abstract: A concise summary of the research.
- Citation: Full bibliographic reference of the journal publication, the link to it or DOI (if available). In case of accepted, but not yet published, the authors are advised to: 1) provide an access link to the author's version, and 2) upload the acceptance letter/email as supplementary material on the submission page serving as an evidence for its acceptance.
- Acceptance date: Date of the acceptance.
- Significance Statement: A brief statement highlighting the relevance and impact of the work.
All submissions must be in PDF format and conform, at time of submission, to the official "ACM Primary Article Template", which can be obtained from the ACM Proceedings Template page. Submissions must be made through the EASE 2026 submission system.
Review Process and Considerations
The Journal-First Track Committee will evaluate submissions based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to the EASE 2026 topics and software engineering community.
- Quality, novelty, and impact of the journal publication.
- Clarity of the submitted summary and significance statement.
Since the original papers were previously reviewed and accepted by well-recognized journals, there is no need for further reviews. Therefore, the authors should not expect to receive any reviews with the notification.
The EASE'26 Journal First Track submissions will not be part of the EASE proceedings. The conference online program will contain a hyperlink to the original journal paper or to its preprint.
Please note, following the acceptance of the proposal, at least one of the authors of the journal paper must register and attend EASE 2026 to present the work.
Should you have any questions, please contact the track chairs.
