Hackathon - Making Reproducibility Packages Usable (Again)ESEIW 2026
General Information
You are a researcher working on software engineering topics or a practitioner interested in current tools from software engineering research? Did you have the experience of trying to reuse a software artifact from a software engineering research paper and failing to execute it? Or did your reproduced results diverge significantly from what was reported in the respective paper? Do you want to help improve reproducibility in packages so you do not have to spend hours getting the software to run?
Then, join our in-person hackathon “Making Reproducibility Packages Usable (Again)” at ESEIW 2026. We want to explore together with you what makes reproducibility packages hard to (re-)use and what can be improved.
Specifically, we aim to reproduce and utilize the replication packages of articles accepted in the ESEM 2026 Technical Track. This presents a great opportunity to engage with the research presented at the conference.
This hackathon is a continuation of a prior hackathon held as an adjacent event to the German Conference for Research Software Engineering (deRSE24) on March 7, 2024.
Important dates
- Workshop: Wed 07 October
Participation
Participation in this hackathon is open to all researchers and research students.
