Call for Highlights from the Past Year Papers

FSE2026 invites authors who could not present at prestigious Software Engineering conferences due to unforeseen situations (e.g., visa issues, illnesses) in the past year to present their paper on a new Highlights from the Past Year track.

We invite papers accepted at the following Software Engineering conferences:

  • IEEE/ACM International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) 2025
  • ACM International Conference on the Foundations of Software Engineering (FSE) 2025
  • IEEE/ACM Automated Software Engineering (ASE) 2025
  • IEEE/ACM International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) 2026

The submissions must adhere to the following criteria:

  • The paper is in the scope of FSE 2026.
  • The paper is accepted in the main Research track of ICSE 2025, FSE 2025, ASE 2025, and ICSE 2026.
  • The paper has not been presented on-site by the same author who will present at FSE26, and is not under consideration for other conferences. If a paper has been presented virtually, it is still eligible for this track. If the author had previously designated another author/representative to present at the conference, it is still eligible for this track.

How to submit

The authors of a paper that meets the above criteria are invited to submit a form consisting of the paper’s title, authors, an abstract, a pointer to the original conference paper at the conference’s website, and explanation whether the paper has been presented (e.g., virtual presentation or recorded video or asking someone else to help in presenting).

Evaluation

Authors will be invited to present their paper at FSE 2026 after a check that the paper satisfies the above listed criteria, and that it was accepted as a research track paper by the corresponding conference. As the papers have already been reviewed and accepted by the conferences, they will not be reviewed again for technical content. If an exceptionally high number of submissions is received, not all papers will be selected. The papers that best fit the technical program will be given priority, offering a balance across the conference topics.

Presentation

At least one author of each presentation accepted for the "Highlights from the Past Year" program must register and attend the conference in person in Montreal, Canada, to present the paper. As the paper has been previously published, there will be no further publication. The "Highlights from the Past Year" papers will be listed in the conference program, and FSE 2026 participants will have access to the paper abstracts.
