Call for Contributions

We invite you to participate and contribute to the Working Sessions at ICSA 2027!

Working sessions are what makes ICSA a truly working conference. They bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to engage in focused discussion and debate around the challenges, current developments, and future directions of software architecture. These sessions offer a genuine opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues, shape emerging thinking, and tackle the questions that matter most to our community.

This year's theme — The Enduring Role of Software Architecture in an Evolving Landscape — recognises that software architecture continues to play a critical role even as the landscape around it shifts in profound ways. Advances in AI-enabled tooling, emerging concerns around digital sovereignty, the architectural implications of tokenised digital assets, maturing of digital identity schemes, the need for cryptographic agility in anticipation of quantum computing, and an ever-increasing pressure to deliver resilient and sustainable systems are all reshaping how software is built, deployed, and governed. Across all of these changes, architecture remains the enduring foundation for managing complexity, stabilising system intent, reasoning about trade-offs, and preserving long-term qualities such as maintainability, resilience, trustworthiness, and sustainability.

We invite the community to submit proposals for working sessions. Submission requirements include: (1) a short outline of your proposed topic, (2) why people from industry and academia should work on it in this 90–180 session, (3) the names of session facilitators, and (4) proposed deliverable (e.g., blog post, workshop proposal, white paper, conference submission).

Proposal should be submitted via the EasyChair submission system.

The deadline to submit your working session proposal is 2 October 2026.
