Call for Workshop Proposals

The following workshops have been accepted to ICSA 2027:

ICSA 2027 will be held on 8–12 March 2027 in Sydney, Australia.
The ICSA 2027 workshops aim to provide a forum for researchers and software architects to explore and exchange experiences and R&D results in software architecture. We solicit workshop proposals on emerging and ongoing trends in software architecture, on interdisciplinary research involving other areas of software engineering, and on new perspectives and explorations in software architecture. Potentially interesting themes include, but are not limited to: novel and upcoming areas of software architecture research and applications; software architecture for AI; AI for software architecture, LLM- and data-centric architectures; architectures for the cloud-edge continuum; observability, reliability, and self-adaptive architectures; architectural aspects of security, privacy, and software supply-chain; sustainability and cost-/carbon-aware architecture; socio-technical architecture and governance; APIs, integration, and ecosystem architectures; architectures for safety-critical systems, cyber-physical systems, and digital twins.

Workshops may be either half-day or one-day events. We promote and strongly encourage very interactive workshop formats, e.g., including breakout groups/working sessions. This should be clearly explained in the workshop plan. Please refer to past ICSA workshops, both for examples of ICSA workshop themes and to avoid overlaps with other workshops.

We encourage workshop organizers to have a “Best Paper Award” within their workshop, to better engage and reward (especially young) researchers for their scientific achievements. The winners of the best paper awards will be announced in a dedicated Awards Session during the main conference. Details on the procedure and organization of the workshops’ best paper awards will follow after the acceptance notifications.

Workshop organizers are responsible for submission and selection of papers. Submissions must follow the IEEE Computer Science proceedings format. Workshop proceedings will be published in the ICSA 2027 Companion proceedings and appear in IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Workshop organizers may allow for different types of contributions (e.g., technical, position, and case study papers), but a workshop paper should not exceed a maximum of 8 pages in IEEE format. Please note that (1) changes to the list of authors of both workshop proposals and workshop papers are not permitted after submission, (2) workshop organizers are not allowed to submit papers to their own workshops, and (3) track chairs are not allowed to submit proposals to the track they are chairing.

Proposal Submission

Workshop proposals must be written in English, not exceed 4 pages in IEEE CS proceedings format, and must be submitted electronically in PDF through EasyChair (track: ICSA 2027 Workshops). Proposals should include:

  • Title
  • Names and affiliations of organizers
  • Past workshops (at ICSA, ECSA, or elsewhere) held by the organizers
  • Description of the workshop theme and its relations with the field of Software Architecture
  • Goals and objectives for the workshop
  • Whether you prefer a full-day or a half-day option
  • Whether you plan to have a Best Paper Award (recommended)
  • How you plan to organize the workshop

Evaluation Criteria

  • Potential of the workshop to advance the state of software architecture research and/or practice.
  • Timeliness and expected interest in the topic.
  • Organizers’ ability to lead a successful workshop.

Important Considerations

  • At least one of the workshop organizers needs to register for the conference and attend the workshop in person.
  • Workshops will be conducted in presence at the conference venue. Presenters of accepted papers need to attend in person.
  • A workshop should aim for at least five accepted high-quality papers.

Important Dates

  • Workshop Proposal Submission: April 26, 2026
  • Workshop Proposal Notification of Acceptance: May 11, 2026
  • Workshop Paper Abstract Submission: Dec 16, 2026
  • Workshop Paper Submission: Dec 20, 2026
  • Workshop Paper Notification of Acceptance: Jan 19, 2027
  • Workshop Paper Camera-ready Submission: Jan 29, 2027

All deadlines are 23:59h AoE (anywhere on Earth)
