ICSE 2026 Panels are built for real discussion, not monologues. They bring together researchers, practitioners, and community leaders to debate where software engineering is heading—and what needs to change—across technical practice, research methods, education, and the health of our field. Expect sharp questions, concrete experiences, and room-level participation.
This year’s lineup includes the SE.next panel series on the agentic shift—In the Agentic Trenches, Research in the Agentic Era, and Raising the Agentic Engineer—covering what AI teammates are doing to team workflows, what they mean for the research agenda, and how we should be educating the next generation. We also feature Technical Debt in the AI Era, tackling how AI can both accelerate debt and help manage it, and Future of Software Engineering: Toward a Healthy Software Engineering Community, a conversation grounded in community input about how we publish, collaborate, and sustain an inclusive, intentional research community.
This program is tentative and subject to change.
