PROFES 2026

Call for Papers

PROFES conferences encourage the exchange of ideas to explore, understand, and model phenomena in software engineering from the point of view of process-product relationships. Traditionally, PROFES provides topics, which are up-to-date, important, and interesting to both practitioners and researchers. To ensure that PROFES will retain its high standards and that it will keep focusing on the most relevant research issues, we are looking for original research on current trends in software engineering, reporting on the application of respective methods or technologies in real-world settings, and highlighting the impact on products and services. The topics of interest include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  • Process modeling, management, assessment and improvement
  • Value- and data-driven development of products and services
  • Processes for (digital) product innovation and software business models
  • Software analytics and empirical research with actionable insights on product and process improvement
  • Measurement and metrics for improving software processes, products, teams, and value delivery, including in agile and AI-augmented environments
  • Processes for software and AI co-engineering
  • Agile software processes and agile product development, including scaling agile, hybrid and remote teamwork, self-managed teams, and agile practices in AI-augmented environments
  • Integration of generative AI into software engineering workflows Infrastructure and processes for continuous delivery and deployment
  • Product quality models for software, data, AI, systems, and services
  • Project management techniques, global and/or distributed software development
  • Methods and approaches for software modernization and lifecycle management
  • Processes and methods for open-source development and software supply chain management
  • Human-in-the-loop and human-centered development processes
  • Software engineering education and training, including industry-academia collaboration, experiential and project-based learning, and continuous professional development
  • Teaching modern SE practices, including AI-assisted development, DevOps, CI/CD, and software process improvement techniques Education in modern software engineering practices
  • Sustainability in software engineering processes and products
  • Engineering processes for trustworthy and responsible software and AI systems
  • Compliance, governance, and regulatory aspects in development processes

Full papers that address collaborations between industry and academia, case studies as well as experience reports on any of the conference themes are particularly welcome. We also encourage the submission of secondary studies on topics of interest with the condition that the submissions should contain a synthesis of findings. Submissions must be original and not previously published, accepted, or under review elsewhere. All papers will undergo a rigorous single-anonymous peer review by at least three reviewers. Selection will be based on originality, quality, soundness, and relevance.

Important Dates

All dates are 23:59:59 AoE (UTC-12h)

  • Submission: July 23, 2026
  • Notification: September 11, 2026
  • Camera-ready: September 25, 2026

Submission

We invite submissions of full papers (max. 16 pages including references) related to the conference topics. Submitted papers must conform to the Springer LNCS author guidelines, be written in English, and submitted in PDF format via EasyChair.

Conference Attendance Expectation

PROFES 2026 will be organized with in-person participation. If a submission is accepted, at least one author must register for the conference and present the paper.
