Call for Workshop & Tutorial Proposals

The SANER 2027 Workshops and Tutorials track invites practitioners and researchers to deliver insightful workshops and tutorials on various topics related to Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering. We encourage workshop/tutorial organizers to include activities that provide their participants with a true workshop/tutorial experience.

All workshops/tutorials will be scheduled for the first day of the conference (March 9, 2027), the day before the main conference. Each workshop/tutorial can be full or half-day. Should you be interested in joining SANER, please keep the following submission guidelines in mind:

Workshop-specific requirements:

Workshops should highlight a specific topic of interest related to software analysis, evolution, and reengineering. The workshop proposal submission is a PDF file, with no more than two pages. It should follow the IEEE Conference Proceedings Formatting Guidelines (title: 24pt, text: 10pt; LaTeX users: \documentclass[10pt,conference]{IEEEtran}).

Please include “Workshop:” at the beginning of the title, to explicitly claim that this is a workshop proposal submission.

The proposal should include

  • A workshop title,
  • Organizers and their affiliations,
  • Workshop duration (half day or full day),
  • A description of the workshop topic and scope,
  • A link to the workshop website, and
  • Contact information.

The website should be live and include (at least) the following information: the topic of the workshop, its scope, list of topics of interest, names of the organizing committee members and their affiliations, types of submissions and the deadlines (see below).

Evaluation Criteria

The proposals will be evaluated by the program committee of workshop & tutorial based on the novelty of the workshop topic, its importance to the field, as well as the composition of the organizing team.

Workshop PC and Submission system

No later than mid of-September 2026, the workshop PC should have been finalized and the paper submission system should be live. Workshop organizers are free to select EasyChair, HotCRP or any other commonly used paper submission system.

Workshop Timelines

The following deadlines are suggestions based on the timeline of the main track. The only strict deadline is the camera-ready (see below).

Abstract submission (mandatory): Mon 19 Oct 2026

Paper submission deadline: Fri 23 Oct 2026

Notifications: Tue 8 Dec 2026

Author registration deadline: Fri 8 Jan 2027

Camera Ready: Fri 8 Jan 2027

The workshop proceedings will be included in a separate section of the conference’s proceedings – the companion proceedings.

Tutorial-specific requirements:

Tutorials should expand the community’s understanding of advanced software engineering topics, valuable tools and technologies, as well as research methodologies. We are soliciting proposals with the intention of presenting a tutorial in the following categories:

  1. Technical Tutorial: Speakers present the use of a tool or technology that aids the developers in Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering.

  2. Research problem: Speakers provide a general view of the state-of-the-art for a topic related to Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering and further present details of a specific research problem that still needs to be addressed by the community.

The tutorial proposal submission is a PDF file, with no more than one page. It should follow the IEEE Conference Proceedings Formatting Guidelines (title: 24pt, text: 10pt; LaTeX users: \documentclass[10pt,conference]{IEEEtran}).

Please include “Tutorial” at the beginning of the title, to explicitly claim that this is a tutorial proposal submission.

The submission should include:

  • A tutorial title,
  • Proposal type (Technical Tutorial or Research problem),
  • Presenters and their affiliations,
  • Tutorial duration (a half day or a full day),
  • Outline of the tutorial talk,
  • Target audience (e.g., PhD students, early career researchers, all researchers, practitioners),
  • Learning objectives,
  • Details on any hands-on activities (e.g., participants using a tool or completing exercises) and the necessary computer specifications, and
  • Contact information.

Evaluation Criteria

The proposals will be evaluated by the program committee of workshop & tutorial based on:

  • Overall quality of the proposal,
  • Relevance to the SANER audience,
  • Level of interest they believe the tutorial will attract,
  • Experience of the presenters,
  • Avoidance of duplication, in case of multiple tutorials on the same topic.

We are delighted to announce the seven workshops joining the 34th IEEE International Conference on Software Analysis, Evolution and Reengineering in Richmond, Virginia:

Together, these workshops will offer dedicated spaces for researchers and practitioners to share ideas, discuss emerging challenges, and advance research across a wide range of software engineering topics.
