The Software Engineering Research in India (SERI) Update Meet, conducted annually, is an informal event, with the aim of bringing together faculty, students, industrial researchers, and practitioners working in software engineering and other related areas to present and discuss advances in their areas of interest.

The 2026 edition of SERI Update Meeting will take place at International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, India from 16th to 18th July, 2026.

The event is sponsored by the India Chapter of the SIGSOFT Special Interest Group of ACM and TCS. SERI 2026 invites both the submission of proposals and participation. Talks will delve into foundational aspects, algorithms, approaches, or experiences, focusing on novel or interesting insights, relating to any aspect of software engineering such as requirements, design, development, analysis, testing, verification, or deployment.

One can take part in SERI in two ways.

  1. By Submitting a talk proposal: You are invited to submit a talk proposal. For details, please goto Call-for-Proposal

  2. Without submitting any proposals: You are invited to participate as an attendee through registration. This gives you an opportunity to listen to the talks, networking with academics and practitioners, participating in working group discussions, validating your ideas with like minded people. Call for Proposal

The Software Engineering Research in India (SERI) Update Meet, conducted annually, is an informal event, with the aim of bringing together faculty, students, industrial researchers, and practitioners working in software engineering and other related areas to present and discuss advances in their areas of interest.

The 2026 edition of SERI Update Meeting will take place at International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, India from 16th to 18th July, 2026.

Proposal Submission

SERI 2026 is increasing its scope, also bringing in closely related areas of Programming Languages and Compilers into its ambit. The proposals can target all practical and theoretical ideas investigating broad areas of software engineering, programming systems, languages and environments. These may include topics related to foundational aspect, algorithm, approach, or experience, focusing on novel or interesting insights, relating to any aspect of software development such as requirements, design, development, analysis, testing, verification, generation, deployment, or maintenance and reuse of software systems.

The submitted proposal could be based on prior published work or ongoing work. The submission is in the form of an extended abstract of up to 300 words, and an optional 1-page write-up as a pdf file (preferably in ACM sigconf ACM sigconf template).

Proposal submission, review and accept/reject notification is managed using Microsoft CMT.

The submission follows a single-blind review process, and evaluation criteria include relevance to the workshop theme, technical soundness, significance, presentation, and the ability of the work to spark discussion among the audience of SERI.

We have two phases for the proposal submissions: Early Phase: Submission deadline April 6th, 2026, Notification on May 8th, 2026 Late Phase: Submission deadline May 4th, 2026, Notification on June 5th, 2026

What’s New

SERI 2026 plans to include dedicated sessions that support online and hybrid participation from researchers outside India. This initiative is motivated by the goal of enabling broader and more inclusive participation, particularly from researchers, students, and practitioners who may be constrained by travel, funding, or professional commitments.
