Márcio de Oliveira Barros is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of the Rio de Janeiro State (UNIRIO), teaching in the Undergraduate Information Systems Bachelor and in the Graduate Information Systems Program (PPGI). Graduated in Applied Mathematics in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, he received Master and Doctoral degrees in Systems Engineering and Computer Science from COPPE/UFRJ. His research interests include a number of themes on Software Engineering, particularly the application of heuristic optimization in project management, software design, code improvement, and program generation. CNPq sponsors his research and he has formerly received grants from other Brazilian agencies. He serves on the Program Committee of both Brazilian and international conferences, particularly those addressing Search-based Software Engineering and acts as reviewer for international journals.
