Ass.Prof. Dr. Christian Steger received his Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering from Graz University of Technology, Austria, in 1990, and his Dr. techn. degree in 1995 from the same institution. He also completed the Entrepreneurship Development Program at MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston. He serves as a strategy board member of the Virtual Vehicle Competence Center in Graz. Since 1992 Assistant Professor at the Institute for Technical Informatics, Graz University of Technology. From October 2010 to February 2011, he was a substitute professor at Saarland University (Chair of “Reactive Systems”).
Christian Steger’s research has been funded by industry partners, the European Commission, and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research, and Economy. He leads the HW/SW codesign group at the Institute for Technical Informatics. His research interests include embedded systems, HW/SW codesign, power awareness, smart cards, automotive systems, and sustainability in data centers, with a focus on energy efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of data storage and processing infrastructure. He has supervised over 210 master’s theses, co-supervised 43 PhD students, and has authored or co-authored more than 230 scientific papers. He is also a co-inventor of three patents (EU, U.S.).
