Andrea Rosà is a Senior Researcher and Lecturer at the Faculty of Informatics of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), Lugano, Switzerland.
His research spans software systems, program analysis, runtime and compiler optimization, and empirical methodology for performance evaluation. A substantial part of his work focuses on managed runtimes and their software ecosystems, especially the Java Virtual Machine, as a practically relevant setting for broader research questions in modern software platforms.
He develops methods, tools, and evaluation infrastructures to make software behavior more observable, diagnose inefficiencies and unexpected degradations, and support rigorous improvement of performance, scalability, and predictability.
His current research directions also include methodologies for analyzing and mitigating performance variability and trustworthy AI-assisted program transformation, instrumentation, and analysis.
