Claudia Ayala is an associate professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) - BarcelonaTech. She received her PhD degree in Informatics from the same university. She was a postdoctoral ERCIM research fellow at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. She received the Most Influential Paper Award in IEEE RE 2022 and an ACM SIGSOFT and IEEE Computer Society TCSE recognition for her outstanding contributions to the Software Engineering community at ICSE 2022. She has acted as: Financial Chair of ESEM 2024, Virtualization co-Chair of ICSE 2022, Project Manager of ICSE 2021, Virtualization team of ICSE 2020, Program Co-chair for the Ibero-American Conference on Software Engineering (CIbSE) and several other scientific events such as Posters and Demos Track-RCIS 2017; Short papers and posters track-EASE 2015; Proceedings (Co)Chair- PROFES 2019 and CAiSE’12; Student Volunteer Chair-RE 2008. She is a regular reviewer of highly ranked journals such as IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, Empirical Software Engineering Journal, and Information and Software Technology. Her current research interests include empirical software engineering, software architecture and quality, software engineering for machine learning, and open source software adoption.
