Bio:

I am Jason Ding, a 5th-year PhD candidate at University of Maryland College Park, working on Human-centered AI and GenAI. I have been actively engaged in AI/HCI research since 2019, with a focus on Large Language Models (LLMs) since 2021. My research contribution includes 20+ publications at AI and HCI conferences, such as CHI (4), C&C (4), EMNLP (1), CSCW (1). Building on these concrete pieces, I regularly share insights on Intent-AI Interaction (4 invited talks in 2024). I have also contributed to the research community, reviewing 40+ papers and serving as a program committee member for C&C’24/25 & IUI’25.

My research is deeply oriented toward practical applications and productization. I’ve had the privilege of interning at MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab (2024 Summer), Microsoft Research (2023 Summer), and Dataminr AI Org (2022 Summer). My industry research has been published in AI/HCI conference (EMNLP 2023, IUI 2025, C&C 2025), and made real-world impacts such as first-authored GenAI patent (IBM Research) and GenAI product (Dataminr ReGenAI).
