Francesco Basciani is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI), Italy, and is affiliated with Fondazione Gran Sasso Tech. His research focuses on Software Engineering for space and mission-critical systems, with particular interests in Model-Driven Engineering, software architectures, Digital Twins, autonomous and adaptive systems, and trustworthy AI. He has collaborated with academic and industrial partners, including Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and Thales Alenia Space Italia. He was the Scientific Coordinator of SPACERAISE 2026 and is the lead proposer and organiser of CASE2Space 2027 at ICSE. He received an ICSE 2026 SEET Distinguished Paper Award for work on space software engineering education.
