Nickhil Kumar Sharma is an interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of digitalisation, energy systems, and social justice. He holds a PhD in Environmental Social Science from the University of East Anglia, where his research examined how smart and flexible energy technologies are designed, and experienced by households, and how these processes interact with social inequalities. Currently he is working as a Lecturer at the Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, India. His work draws on justice-oriented and frameworks and combines qualitative and mixed methods to study demand-side flexibility, smart energy transitions, and inclusive innovation. Nickhil has contributed to UKRI and EU-funded projects and works closely with engineers, computer scientists, and policymakers to explore equitable pathways to decarbonisation and digital transformation. His broader research interests focus on ensuring that digitally enabled sustainability transitions are socially inclusive, context-sensitive, and responsive to diverse everyday practices.
