Bio:

Rustem is a Senior Research Scientist at SINTEF Digital, based in Oslo, Norway, where he is a member of the Trustworthy Green IoT Software research group. In 2016, he received his PhD degree in computer science from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, as part of the Marie Curie fellowship. His current research focuses on various aspects of software and AI engineering for the computing continuum. In the 2024 edition of the SEAMS conference, Rustem is presenting a Raft-based approach to enable state replication in federated learning, which combines techniques from distributed and autonomous computing to make the next generation of federated AI systems more robust and fault-tolerant.
