Yu Pan is a Security Engineer at CertiK and a smart contract researcher at the University of Utah, where he is advised by Prof. Mu Zhang. He defended his Ph.D. thesis in November 2025 and joined CertiK as a Blockchain Security Engineer in October 2025. Prior to that, he conducted research at Nanjing University under the supervision of Prof. Enyi Tang.
His research interests span blockchain security, programming languages, and software engineering, with a particular focus on smart contract security, automated vulnerability detection, and repair. His work has been recognized by the research community, including papers accepted at USENIX Security 2025, ISSTA 2023, and CCS 2022. In particular, his ISSTA 2023 paper received the ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award, and his CCS 2022 paper received a Best Paper Honorable Mention.
