Student Travel Grant
Under the IFIP TC6 Student Travel Grant Program, students or young researchers from an IFIP member country can apply for travel and accommodation funding to make it possible for them to attend the conference. For ICTSS 2023, there are two Student Travel Grant of 250€ each. Students should note that the grant sizes are fixed, so that any costs more than the grant will not be reimbursed. Young researchers are researchers at pre-doctoral level and up to an age limit of 35 years old at the time of the conference. A committee reviews their applications and awards grants to the students who would not otherwise have the resources to attend a conference or workshop, with benefits to both the student and the conference. Applications for grants will be evaluated by a committee consisting of the responsible IFIP WG chair (or TC6 chair for events not sponsored by WGs) and two others selected by the conference chair(s). Grants will be awarded based on the evaluation committee’s assessment of the student’s genuine financial need, the potential benefit to the student’s education, research, and career, and the potential benefit to the conference. The committee may favor students who are (co-)authors of accepted to avoid “no shows,” and may decide to make only one award per university. The number of awards to be made is proposed by the conference chair(s) and approved by the responsible IFIP WG chair.
To apply for a grant, students should send a letter to the ICTSS co-chairs (Silvia Bonfanti: silvia.bonfanti@unibg.it, Angelo Gargantini: angelo.gargantini@unibg.it, Paolo Salvaneschi: paolo@salvaneschi.com) explaining how they believe attending the conference will benefit them. The letter should quote the lowest available airfare from the student’s location to the conference site, and the bank account details of the student’s institution for reimbursement. The application should include a letter from the student’s graduate advisor describing the student’s work and the benefit of attending the conference.
E-mail applications are encouraged. Applications are due by the 14th of August. The committee decisions will be made 6 weeks before the conference date.
