Developing ethical and trustworthy AI/ML in the warfare domain
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming an integral part of many aspects of modern life, including warfare. As AI advances and becomes more ubiquitous, a pressing question arises: can AI be made ethical?
To imbue machines with ethics, we must overcome several challenges, such as defining ethical behaviour in different situations. Addressing this issue is a significant challenge.
However, building AI that prioritizes ethical behaviour can lead to positive outcomes such as reduced bias and discrimination, increased transparency and accountability, and improved safety and security of AI systems. By promoting ethical values in AI development, we can ensure that machines contribute to a better world.
The purpose of this presentation is to outline best practices for creating an ethical environment for developing AI. These practices will help technologists create machines that prioritize ethical behaviour, promote positive outcomes, and contribute to a better world.
