"Getting in the Game - A Conversation with Those Truly Eager to Be Researchers" (version 2.0)

Not everyone who completes a doctorate becomes an active researcher. Sometimes, this occurs not because the individual lacks the desire to engage more deeply in research but rather because they are unsure of what steps to take (and what to avoid). This conversation is aimed at young doctors, doctoral candidates, and master's students who truly aspire to become active researchers. The goal is to discuss how to develop a research career and provide some tips on what to do and what not to do as a researcher.

Tayana Conte

Tayana Conte is an Associate Professor in the Computing Institute at Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). Tayana was a Visitor Researcher in Informatics, University of California Irvine, USA in 2019. Her research focuses on User eXperience (UX), Human Factors in Software Development, Software Quality and Empirical Software Engineering. She has published more than 300 papers in conferences and journals over the years. She is the head of the USES (UX and Software Engineering) Research Group. She has supervised 31 master's theses, 10 doctoral dissertations, and co-supervised 3 doctoral dissertations in the fields of Software Engineering and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). In 2023, she became the first person from Latin America to receive the IEEE TCSE Distinguished Education Award. She intends to continue improving her research career.

Nem todos que terminam um doutorado se tornam um pesquisador atuante. Algumas vezes isto acontece não porque a pessoa não queira atuar mais forte na pesquisa, e sim porque nem sempre se sabe o que se deve fazer (e o que se deve evitar). Esta conversa é voltada para os jovens doutores, doutorandos e mestrandos que realmente querem se tornar pesquisadores atuantes. O objetivo é discutir como desenvolver a carreira de pesquisador e apresentar algumas dicas do que fazer, e não fazer, como pesquisador.

Tayana Conte

Professora da UFAM, Graduada pela UFPA, Mestre pela UFMG, Doutora pela COPPE/ UFRJ, realizou Pós-doc na University of California, Irvine (UCI) em 2019. Sua pesquisa se concentra nas áreas: Experiência do Usuário (UX), Fatores Humanos no Desenvolvimento de Software, Qualidade de Software e Engenharia de Software Experimental. Ela publicou mais de 300 artigos em conferências e periódicos. Tayana é a líder do Grupo de Pesquisa USES (UX e Engenharia de Software). Ela orientou 32 dissertações de mestrado, 10 teses de doutorado e co-orientou 3 teses de doutorado nas áreas de Engenharia de Software e Interação Humano-Computador (HCI). Em 2023, tornou-se a primeira pessoa da América Latina a receber o IEEE TCSE Distinguished Education Award. É bolsista de produtividade em pesquisa e pretende seguir melhorando sua carreira de pesquisadora..
