I am Van Nguyen. I am a Research Fellow at Monash University in Australia, specifically in the Department of Software Systems & Cybersecurity. Additionally, I am an Affiliate at CSIRO’s Data61, Australia. In 2021, I completed my PhD in Computer Science from Monash University. I was acknowledged as a global talent through Australia’s Global Talent Independent Program (GTI) in 2021.

I have around five years of experience conducting research, teaching, and working in the fields of computer vision (CV), natural language processing (NLP), with a particular emphasis on cyber security. My current research focuses on advancing machine learning and deep learning techniques to address topical issues in cyber security (e.g., out-of-distribution vulnerability detection, cross-domain software vulnerability detection, software vulnerability localisation relevant to interpretable machine learning, vulnerability repairs, and phishing attack-related problems). My objective is to enhance security systems’ design, construction, and protection, ultimately mitigating security breaches. My contributions to these areas have resulted in the publication of many impactful papers in esteemed conferences and journals specialising in machine learning and software engineering.
