Dr. Jianwei Niu is a professor of Computer Science and serves as the Dean of University College at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio). Dr. Niu received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Waterloo in 2005 and immediately after she started the tenure-track assistant professor position at UTSA. Dr. Niu’s research in software engineering, security & privacy, and formal methods has been funded by the highly competitive grants from National Science Foundation (NSF), National Security Agency (NSA), US Army, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Microsoft Inc., MITRE Cooperation, etc. She has published more than 60 peer-reviewed publications in highly-selective venues, including ACM Transaction on Information and System Security (TISSEC now TOPS), IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing (TDSC), ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology (TOSEM), IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE), Journal of Computer Security, IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy, and ACM/IEEE International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE). Moreover, she served as an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing (TDSC) from 2019 to 2023, the program chair for ACM Symposium on Access Control Models and Technologies (SACMAT) in 2024, and the co-chair of the program committee for SACMAT in 2019. She also has served as a program committee member of many prestigious and top conferences, including ICSE, SACMAT, Symposium on the Science of Security (HotSoS), etc.
