Dr. Maged Elaasar is the Founder and CEO of Modelware, the company developing an intelligence-centric engineering platform called OML Code. He brings decades of research, engineering practice, and technology development to advance a new generation of engineering tools. OML Code builds on this foundation to combine semantic modeling, formal reasoning, automation, and AI, making rigorous model-based engineering more accessible and practical for organizations engineering complex systems.
Dr Elaasar’s career spans systems engineering, software engineering, model-based engineering, and artificial intelligence across industry, government, and academia. At NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), he has led research and development in integrated model-centric engineering, advancing approaches that make systems engineering more rigorous, agile, and data-driven. His academic work includes teaching undergraduate, graduate and professional courses in software and systems engineering and related disciplines at leading universities. Earlier in his career, he spent more than a decade at IBM leading research and development on flagship modeling technologies, where he became an IBM Master Inventor and was awarded numerous U.S. patents.
Dr. Elaasar is the lead developer of openCAESAR, an open-source platform for ontological modeling and analysis developed for large-scale engineering applications. He has also contributed extensively to international modeling standards through the Object Management Group (OMG), including leadership and technical contributions to UML and SysML. He is a widely published researcher and has held leadership roles in the international systems engineering and ontology communities, including INCOSE MENA and the onto:Nexus Forum.
