I studied mathematics and computer science at the University of Bonn, Germany. I hold a PhD in mathematics and spent all my professional career in the IT industry. I started as a developer in 1986 and turned to testing in 1997, due to my passion for software quality. My latest position was that of a Managing Consultant at Sogeti Deutschland GmbH until my retirement in 2019. My professional focus is on test analysis and design, management, and process improvement. I continue volunteering at the German Testing Board (GTB) and the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®). As Chair of the ISTQB® Glossary Working Group, I publish the ISTQB® Standard Glossary of Testing Terms. In addition, I am the product owner of the ISTQB® Advanced Level Test Analyst Syllabus.
