Bio:

Khalid works as a Research Fellow at the Department of Human Centred Computing of the Faculty of Information Technology. He is responsible for carrying out independent and/or team research on community informatics and environmental informatics. He also collaborates with both doctoral students and academics in the planning and execution of 2nd phase of Participatory Research and Ownership with Technology, Information and Change (PROTIC) research project (known as PROTIC2: https://www.monash.edu/it/hcc/dedt/projects/participatory-research-and-ownership-with-technology,-information-and-change-protic-ii) based in Bangladesh with a theme of Digital Citizenship for Disadvantaged Communities.

Khalid received a Doctor of Philosophy (Management) degree from the RMIT University, Australia as an Australian Leadership Award (ALA) scholar. With a research focus on the climate change adaptation for multinational corporations, his PhD research topic was ‘Climate Change Adaptation, MNC Strategy and Environmental Pragmatism: A Cross-country Perspective’. Prior to his doctoral study, he received a Master of Diplomacy and Trade degree from Monash University, Australia as an Australian Development Scholarship (ADS) scholar in 2006 and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

Khalid has more than eighteen years of professional experience which includes his roles as Programme Coordinator at IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Bangladesh, Economic Justice and Resilience Programme Manager at Oxfam in Bangladesh, Head of Climate Change Programmes and Project Coordinator (Climate Change Unit) at the Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB), Campaign Coordinator and Policy Officer at Oxfam GB – Bangladesh Programme and Research Officer at Bangladesh Tariff Commission under the Government of Bangladesh. His work experience in Bangladesh includes research, policy analysis, policy advocacy and grassroots development programming. He also has work experience as a research and teaching assistant at Monash University and RMIT University.

Khalid has published a number of papers in international journals and conference proceedings along with some book chapters. His interests include climate change, sustainability, natural resource management, international business, governance and ICT for Development.
