IEEE CISOSE Industry TrackCISOSE 2025
Call for Papers
The Industrial Track at CISOSE offers a dedicated forum for practitioners and researchers to exchange insights, innovations, and experiences related to the practical application of software architecture in real-world software engineering challenges.
NOTE: The call is a Work in Progress Deadline and topic may slightly change
We invite submissions from everyone, and especially encourage contributions featuring industrial perspectives—whether independently or in collaboration with academic partners.
Topics of Interest
We welcome contributions on all aspects of applying software architecture in industrial contexts, including but not limited to:
-
Architecture design, analysis, and documentation tools and practices
-
Architectural knowledge management and communication
-
Architecture for and with AI systems (e.g., using AI in design, or designing AI-enabled systems)
-
Sustainable and evolutionary architecture approaches
-
Managing architectural debt and ensuring quality attributes (e.g., performance, security, maintainability)
-
Cloud-native, containerized, and serverless architectures
-
Microservices and service-oriented architectural strategies
-
Architecture in Continuous Engineering settings (e.g., CI/CD, DevOps)
-
Architecture’s role in aligning with business goals and constraints
-
Domain-Driven Design and collaboration across software roles
-
Impact-driven architecture decisions (e.g., financial, environmental implications)
-
Architecture recovery, reverse engineering, and analysis techniques

Submission Categories
We solicit the following type of submission:
Full Papers (4-8 pages):
These contributions should reflect real-world architectural challenges through systematic study and experience sharing. Submissions must present concrete problems from practice and describe innovative architectural solutions, ideally applied in industrial or governmental settings. We welcome empirical investigations, case studies, and lessons learned. Evaluation criteria include practical impact, reproducibility, and industrial relevance. Up to two additional pages are allowed for references (maximum 8 + 2 pages). Accepted papers will be published in the companion proceedings.
Short Papers (2–4 pages):
This category is intended for:
-
Early results that are promising but not yet fully matured
-
Emerging ideas and novel approaches that spark discussion
-
Vision or position papers that argue for a new direction in the industrial application of software architecture.
Up to two additional pages are allowed for references (maximum 4 + 2 pages). Accepted papers will be published in the companion proceedings. Short papers should still be grounded in industrial relevance and clearly articulate the motivation, potential impact, and context of the idea or perspective. Accepted short papers will be included in the companion proceedings.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions to the Industrial Track should be grounded in an industrial context and must address the following elements:
-
Clearly describe the problem’s context and explain its relevance to industry. Identify affected stakeholders, the issue’s duration and impact, the challenge’s novelty, and what prompted its emergence.
-
Briefly acknowledge previous relevant work. While a systematic literature review is not mandatory, referencing applicable published ideas—yours or others’—is required.
-
Describe the solution approach, its implementation, and outcomes. Outline the industrial environment, the problem addressed, and the actions taken. Emphasize impact and lessons learned, providing rationales behind key decisions.
-
Use available data to support findings, even if derived from less controlled environments. Avoid anecdotal or purely opinion-based arguments by incorporating practitioner input or other practical evidence.
-
Clearly explain the contribution’s novelty, importance, and usefulness. Compare results with alternatives where applicable. If outcomes were negative, provide a thoughtful discussion on potential causes and future improvements.
Note: The CISOSE Industrial Track follows a single-blind review process.
