The Visions track addresses the same topics of interest as those of the MOBILESoft 2020 technical research paper track, with more focus on fledgling or unconventional perspectives.
Call for Papers
MOBILESoft 2021 also invites submissions for a “Visions” track. This track addresses the same topics of interest as those of the MOBILESoft 2021 technical research paper track. However, authors of Visions papers are encouraged to focus more on fledgling or unconventional perspectives. These may include: new perspectives that call into question long held beliefs or conventions; bold visions of new directions in mobile software engineering and systems; novel (and potentially groundbreaking) interdisciplinary synergies; reproduction studies that call for new research focus, and, more in general, “bold visions” for our emerging community of software engineering for mobile systems. Note that thorough evaluation results are not required for Visions papers, but preliminary results providing initial support for the proposed visions, as well as negative preliminary results that seem to contradict those visions, are welcome.
Page Limit and Recommended Structure
Submissions should not exceed four (4) pages, with one additional page only for references, and should be submitted according to all of the requirements (including deadlines) of MOBILESoft 2021.
The recommended structure for Visions submissions is the following:
- Introduction
- The vision
- Why is it new?
- The risks
- Next steps
Some elements of this recommended structure may vary depending on the need to better highlight specific aspects of the proposed vision.
Out of Scope
This track is not considered a "second tier" of MOBILESoft 2021 but rather an alternative track for fledgling or unconventional visions. Papers must not have been previously published or be under consideration elsewhere for publication. We solicit contributions from both academia and industry.
Formatting and Submission Instructions
This track follows the same guidelines for MOBILESoft 2021.
Submissions must conform to the IEEE formatting instructions IEEE Conference Proceedings Formatting Guidelines, (title in 24pt font and full text in 10pt type, LaTeX users must use \documentclass[10pt,conference]{IEEEtran} without including the compsoc or compsocconf options).
All submissions must be in PDF. The page limit is strict. Papers that do not conform to these guidelines will be desk rejected before the review process.
MOBILESoft 2021 will follow a double-blind review process. Thus, no submission may reveal its authors’ identities. The authors must make every effort to honour the double-blind review process. In particular: (i) the authors’ names must be omitted from the submission, (ii) references to their prior work should be in the third person, and (iii) supplementary material (e.g., experiment replication package, YouTube video, source code of the proposed approach) should be provided anonymously. Any submission that does not comply with the double-blind review process will be rejected.
