The University of Tokyo is the oldest and largest national university in Japan. It was founded in 1877 by merging several older government schools to form a modern western-style university. Since 1877 was in the Meiji era, the university was originally (since 1886) called The Imperial University (later Tokyo Imperial University after Kyoto University was founded).

The conference will be held on the main campus of that university. It is located in the city center of Tokyo and has good accesses to three subway stations. The campus is next to Ueno park, where there are many museums, hotels, restaurants around. Before the university was founded, the campus was owned by Kaga domain in the Edo era and there was the upper residence of the load of Kaga. So even today the campus is a popular tourist spot in Tokyo and you can see the famous Red gate built in the Edo era as well as historically important university buildings.
