Norha M. Villegas is Dean of Engineering, Design and Applied Science at Universidad Icesi in Colombia, full Professor in the Department of Computing and Intelligent Systems at the same university, and an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Victoria, Canada. She is a Senior Member of IEEE—the first woman in Colombia to attain this distinction. Her research focuses on advancing software engineering practices for the design and development of context-aware, self-adaptive, and intelligent systems, including the integration of emerging technologies such as Generative AI to augment both human and machine capabilities. Dr. Villegas has led strong university–industry collaborations, integrating them effectively across education, research, and innovation. She has received international recognition for her leadership in the tech sector and her efforts to empower women and vulnerable youth in STEM careers. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from UVic (2013), a Master’s degree in Organizational Informatics Management (2005) and a Bachelor’s degree in Software Systems Engineering (2002).
