Call for Papers

ISEC 2024 invites high-quality submissions for presentations in the conference, from both industry and academia, describing novel and unpublished results of applying software engineering in practice. Over the years, SEIP tracks have served as the premier venue for practitioners and researchers to discuss solutions to concrete software engineering problems and experiences and insights from it. Moreover, these tracks enable collaboration, networking, and ideas-sharing among the practitioners and researchers. In general, topics of interest in the submissions to this track are the same as the topics of interest in Research Papers track (please refer to the topics of interest here. However, these submissions need to have strong focus on software engineering in practice.

Broadly we classify the topics of interest into the following four themes.

1. Applications of AI

The submissions in this theme discuss software engineering in the innovative and diverse applications of artificial intelligence across various domains, discussing problems addressed, implementations, and real-world impact in practice.

2. Engineered solutions

The submissions in this theme showcase practical applications of solutions engineered across a wide range of disciplines, highlighting the role of software engineering in solving complex challenges and driving advancements in various industries.

3. Innovations in startups

The submissions in this theme are based on the works that explore the dynamic landscape of startup ecosystems and the innovative strategies that lead to their growth and impact, and the role of software engineering in it. These submissions should provide insights into the strategies, technologies, and practices that fostered success in the competitive startup environment.

4. Learnings in practice

The submissions in this theme showcase the practical application of theoretical concepts, shedding light on the challenges, successes, and lessons learned in practice.

One submission may cover one or more of the above themes. They may use examples and case studies from domains like automotive, aero, healthcare, semiconductor industry, embedded systems, and education.

Submissions

We seek the submissions in the form of Extended Abstracts, which can run up to 2 pages and should cover the problem addressed, the novelties and innovations applied, concrete results observed, and experiences and learnings in the practice. The submission also should cover the presentation outline and a brief comparison of the work with the state-of-the-art. In particular, work(s) in a submission to SEIP must not have been published elsewhere and must not be under review or submitted for review elsewhere whilst under consideration for ISEC SEIP 2024.

For each of the accepted submissions, authors will get a 30 minute presentation slot to present and discuss their work. The proceedings with the accepted submissions will be made available a recognized, free, open-access ISSN publication series like CEUR and Zenodo.

Submission Formatting and Links

Authors are free to choose the font and text-size for the extended abstracts. All SEIP papers must be written in English, and should include the details of the authors like names, email addresses, and affiliated organization/company names and addresses (please note SEIP does NOT use double-anonymous review). Authors should email the submissions to seip.isec24@gmail.com.

Evaluation

All SEIP submissions will be reviewed by at least three members of the review committee. Submissions will be evaluated based on relevance to industrial practice, the significance of contribution, and the quality of the proposed presentation.

Important Dates (Anywhere on Earth, UTC-12)

SEIP Submission Deadline: 22 November 2023

SEIP Submission Acceptance Notification: 15 December 2023.

SEIP Presentation Due: 25 January 2024.

Conference Attendance Expectation
