The school starts with an introduction to (environmental and software) sustainability, various sustainability dimensions (e.g., economical, societal, etc.) and related techniques for framing those dimensions and taking decisions about them.
Markus Funke is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Software and Sustainability group (S2) of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He holds a joint Master’s degree in Computer Science, appointed by the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His research interests focus on software architecture, architecture knowledge, and software sustainability, with particular interest in the relation to professional practice and the industry. Prior to joining the VU, he worked as a software developer and technical architect. As a researcher, he is involved in the VU Digital Sustainability Center (DiSC) and the EU research project “uDEVOPS”.
