Volvo CE (Construction Equipment) is a major brand in Construction Equipment manufacturing. The equipment ranges from compact machines to heavy construction and road paving equipment. Volvo CE is currently undergoing a digital transformation from hardware-intensive products towards data-intensive product service systems (PSS) offering integrated solutions and digital services for construction domain. In this journey MBSE (Model-based Systems Engineering) is considered as a major enabler for effective systems development as well as overall complexity and knowledge management. This industrial talk presents Volvo CE MBSE journey through experiences gained in internal and collaborative (research) projects, lessons learned in application of standard frameworks and tools as well as some major challenges ahead.

Jagadish Suryadevara is a Global Architect at Volvo CE (Construction Equipment), Sweden. He has more than ten years of industrial experience in systems engineering and is a certified member (ASEP) of INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering). At Volvo CE he is responsible for development of Architecture methodologies in Software, Hardware, and Enterprise domains. His current focus areas are Model-based development and integrated enterprise architectures for Product Service Systems (PSS). He holds a PhD degree in Computer Science in Real-time Embedded Systems. He is also an Adjunct Consulting Researcher at Mälardalen University. He coordinates industry-academic research collaboration and co-supervision of PhD studies in model-based development.
