ICGSE 2019 has formed partnerships with IEEE Software to incorporate journal-first papers into the conference program.
Through this initiative, authors of journal-first papers accepted in the partnering journal will be invited to present their work at ICGSE, thus providing an opportunity for the authors to engage directly with the community and offering the ICGSE attendees an additional dimension to the research track program.

Call for Contributions
Scope
A submission to the ICGSE 2019 call for Journal-First paper presentations must adhere to the following criteria:
- The associated accepted journal paper was submitted to IEEE Software no earlier than June 1, 2017.
- The paper is in the scope of the conference. Double-check the list of topic of interest, if in doubt.
- The paper reports completely new research results and/or presents novel contributions that significantly extend and were not previously reported in prior work; and
- The paper does not extend prior work solely with additional empirical results, or minor enhancements or variants of the results presented in the prior work.
- The paper has not been presented at, and is not under consideration for, journal-first programs of other conferences, including ICSE 2019.
How to Submit
Papers must be submitted electronically through EasyChair (see the link in the sidebar) in the appropriate track. The authors of a paper that respects these criteria are invited to submit a one-page presentation proposal, consisting of the paper’s title, the paper’s authors, an extended abstract, and a pointer to the original journal paper at the journal’s Web site.
Submissions must follow the IEEE Conference Proceedings Formatting Guidelines, with title in 24pt font and full text in 10pt type. LaTEX users must use \documentclass[10pt,conference]{IEEEtran}
without including the compsoc
or compsocconf
option.
Evaluation
Authors will be invited to present their paper at ICGSE 2019 after a check that the paper is in scope with respect to the conference. As the papers have been already reviewed and accepted by the journals, they will not be reviewed again for technical content.
In case of an exceptionally high number of submissions is received, not all will be selected. Priority will be given to the papers that best fit the technical program, offer a balance across the topics, and increase opportunities for authors to attend ICSE who might not otherwise attend.
Presentation
If a submission is accepted for the journal-first program, at least one author of the associated journal paper must register and attend the conference to present the paper. A journal-first presentation will be scheduled in a session with topically-related papers.
The journal-first manuscripts are published through the journals and will not be part of the ICGSE proceedings. The journal-first papers will be listed in the conference program
Open Science Policy
ICGSE 2019 encourages authors to submit replication packages and/or data sets with their papers, for the sake of transparency as replicability, as well as for facilitating the peer review process. The following guidelines are recommendations and not mandatory. Your choice will not affect the review process for your paper. Should you decide to embrace this policy, we strongly encourage you to archive empirical datasets on Dataverse, following Google guidelines to dataset providers, and share analysis scripts on freely accessible code repositories such as GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket.
ICGSE 2019 also encourages authors to self-archive a preprint of your accepted manuscript in arXiv.org or other similar open repositories. This is allowed by ACM and IEEE publishers for ICSE proceedings. Note that the final version of the paper, as laid out by the publisher, cannot be self-archived. Instead, manuscript with reviewer comments addressed must be used, but before applying the camera-ready instructions and templates.
Feel free to contact the ICGSE 2019 PCs for more details.
