ISEC 2025 invites proposals for workshops and tutorials to be held on the first day of the conference. We seek half-day and full-day proposals on established or emerging research topics related to the field of software engineering for audiences who come from both academia and industry. A half-day workshop/tutorial should be for 3 hours whereas a full-day workshop/tutorial should be for 6 hours. Focus areas for both include all areas of software engineering (please refer to the list in the main conference call-for-papers under the Research Track).
See the Call for Papers: Tutorials and Technical Briefings tab for details.

Call for Proposals: Workshops
The workshops at the India Software Engineering Conference 2025 (ISEC) offer a platform for researchers, industry practitioners, and students to engage in discussions on various topics related to software engineering research and practice. ISEC Workshops encompass a wide range of subjects and serve as incubators for emerging scientific communities that develop and share specific research agendas (please see the main conference call for papers for the research paper track). These workshops also provide an opportunity for researchers to exchange and debate scientific and engineering ideas in their early stages, before they are ready for conference or journal publication. We invite proposals for both full-day (6 hours) and half-day (3 hours) workshops.
Proposal Submission
All proposals must not exceed 5 pages (ACM format), including a maximum of 4 pages for the proposal text, references, appendices and figures, plus 1 page for the draft Call for Submissions.
Proposal must include the following:
- Workshop Title
- Abstract - Objective of the workshop.
- Contact Information for all workshop organizers, including the main contact person (max 4 from at least two separate institutions/organizations).
- Format and required services:
- Workshop format (e.g., paper presentations, keynotes, breakout sessions, panel-like discussions) and plans for generating discussions
- Plan (if the workshop has contributed papers then workshop submission and review schedule, and list of program committee members with a draft call for paper).
- Intended length ( 3 hours or 6 hours)
- Special services, logistic and/or equipment constraints.
- Relevance of the workshop to the field of software engineering.
- Organizers' bios - A brief description of each organizer’s background, including relevant past experience in organizing conferences and workshops (if any).
Please submit workshop proposal as a PDF document to Pooja Aggarwal (aggarwal.pooja@in.ibm.com) and Souvik Barat (souvik.barat@tcs.com).
Call for Proposals: Tutorials and Technical Briefings
The tutorials track at ISEC 2025 is aimed to provide an opportunity for conference participants to learn, explore and gain knowledge (including hands on and working sessions) on topics ranging from theoretical foundations to practical techniques in the broad area of software engineering. The tutorial track serves as an opportunity for researchers and industry experts to present advances in the field of software engineering providing insights for young students and researchers to get an overview of the research area and to further pursue research. A tutorial can be half or full day event with one or more presenters/instructors.
The Technical Briefing sessions on the other hand are relatively short and crisp 45m technical talks. Presenters are expected to introduce an emerging technical area and optionally present some initial research results/practices. We also welcome position/point-of-view talks on the future of software engineering research and how advances in other technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence etc may change the software engineering research and practice in near future. These sessions also invite reports on interesting innovations that came out while solving some real world complex problem related to any area(s) of software engineering.
The tutorial & tech briefings instructors/presenters are invited to submit proposals for:
- Tutorials: half-day or full-day session on a specific topic focusing on current state-of-the-art Proposals should indicate the type of tutorial, a justification and should include title, objective, timeliness, a motivation for the topic, target audience, an outline, the names and short biographies of the speakers and any other information (such as past experience of presenting tutorials at academic conferences) that helps in assessing the proposed tutorial. A proposal should be no longer than 3 pages. Optionally, a few sample slides from the intended tutorial presentation can be included. The proposal should be submitted as a pdf over e-mail to the track chairs on or before the deadline given below.
- Technical briefings: A 45-minute compact session focusing on emerging directions and/or future possibilities in some software engineering and related field. Technical briefing proposal should include the title and extended abstract (1-2 page) of the talk, the names and short biographies of the speaker(s) and any other information such as past experience in giving such talk at academic/industry forums. If accepted, the full presentation slide deck will have to submitted few weeks in advance before the conference.
The track chairs will review each proposal based on its ability to garner interest from the audience, the relevance and importance of the topic in the context of the current lines of research in software engineering, the experience of instructors and a fit with the entire program of ISEC 2025.
For any further queries, please contact the track chair: Atul Kumar (atul@acm.org)
