Registration for MODELS 2022 is now closed.

Registration period

The registration page will remain open until October 27th. However, to enable event organizers monitor and control attendance, registrations after October 21st will have to be done on-site.

In Person/Virtual participation

MODELS 2022 is an in-person event for all participants and presenters. Nevertheless, the Whova platform will stream all events and recordings will be available shortly after. The platform will allow everyone to connect with each other easily, share information, visit exhibitors, attend presentations and view them later.

The organizers of MODELS 2022 understand that it may be unfeasible for some participants to travel to Canada due to circumstances outside their control. Under exceptional hardship circumstances, the organizers may grant a virtual participation voucher to a limited number of participants for exceptional situations. If you are in such a situation, you can contact the organizers and clearly explain your exceptional situation. Please note that there is only a limited number of virtual participation vouchers available.

At least one co-author of every paper (main or satellite) must pay the in-person fee by the early registration deadline and present in person. If none of the co-authors of a paper can attend in person for an exceptional situation, please contact the organizers of your event to accommodate for an online presentation.

Registration fees

MODELS 2022 offers different participation packages. Full conference registration gives unrestricted access to the whole conference including all the below:

  • Satellite events run from Sunday to Tuesday and include: workshops, tutorials, doctoral symposium, educator symposium, the SAM conference, and one of the Industry days. Satellite registration gives access from Sunday to Tuesday and includes the Satellite reception on Monday.
  • The main conference runs from Wednesday to Friday and includes: tracks of technical papers, keynote presentations, award talks, the panel, poster sessions, and the second Industry day. Main conference registration gives access from Wednesday to Friday and includes the Welcome reception on Wednesday and Banquet on Thursday.
  • Industry days run from Tuesday to Wednesday and include: invited talks from influential companies and all other events happening during these days. Industry days registration gives access from Tuesday to Wednesday and includes the Welcome reception on Wednesday.
  • One additional day adds one consecutive more before or after a package above, but does not include the Banquet on Thursday.
  • For exceptional circumstances only (see above) Virtual registration is for the full conference, no social event is included.
  • Additional banquet tickets can be purchased for $200 each.

On each day, two coffee breaks and a lunch will be offered to all registered participants. There are three main social events planned during the conference. The satellite events reception is on Monday evening in the old Montreal. The welcome reception is on Wednesday evening at the conference venue. The conference banquet is on Thursday evening in down-town Montreal.

Value-added tax (VAT)

The registration fee includes attendance of all sessions of the respective package and full participation to the virtual platform (presentations, chats, question and answer, exhibitors). Prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). Please note that prices do NOT include VAT. VAT is added before checkout.

Please allow some processing time after you register as we have to manually set your account in Whova.

Early registration

Before September 27th, 2022. All presenters, virtual participants, CAPS awardees, and student volunteers should register by that date.

Virtual registration

Payment Method

The only payment method accepted is by a Visa or MasterCard credit card. The online system uses secure encryption to protect your card and personal details. Note that in order to secure online payments, your bank may ask you for personal information or a security code that you will receive by phone or email.

Cancellation and refund policy

Changing from in-person to virtual or cancelling your registration can be done before September 27th. To do so, please contact the organizers. You will receive a full refund minus the processing fee. After that date, changes and cancellations are not refundable.

Due to the process MODELS 2022 has implemented, it is possible that despite all of our efforts made to test the registration system, errors may occur in the online processing of registration refunds. If you believe that some error has occurred in processing your registration or any refunds that you are due, please contact the organizers, and we will make every attempt to correct any errors.

Author/presenter registration

All presenters must attend in person. At least one author has to register as a regular member/non-member for a satellite, conference or full package. In particular:

  • Workshop author, tutorial presenter, SAM conference author, educators symposium author must register as regular member/non-member for satellite or full package.
  • Foundations/Practice & Innovation track author, Tools & demo author, journal-first presenter, poster presenter must register as regular member/non-member for conference or full package.
  • Industry day speaker must register for industry day or full package.
  • Student research competition and doctoral symposium participant can register as student.

Member discount

Thanks to our sponsors, ACM and IEEE members benefit of a discounted registration fee. If you are not already a member of either organization, you can do so before registering to the conference. The conference registration requires a valid ACM or IEEE member ID to confirm the registration.

Participants who are active members of these organizations should choose the corresponding product ending with the term “member”. All other participants should choose the corresponding product ending with the term “NON member”.

Student registration

Student registration includes the social event of their package.

Student members

Authentication of student member status is through your ACM/IEEE email address. Please ensure that your ACM/IEEE membership is a student membership prior to registering to ensure you are charged reduced fees. If you are mistakenly classified as a non-student member, please contact ACM member services or IEEE member services to have your membership changed to a student membership before registering for MODELS 2022.

Student non-members

Students not members of ACM/IEEE who resgister must present proof of status in an academic institution at the registration desk when checking in. Failing to do so will require paying the balance of the Regular non-member fee at the registration desk.

CAPS program

SIGSOFT has agreed to offer a CAPS program for complimentary registration to attend the MODELS 2022 conference for students and researchers who qualify. If you are interested, please submit an online application by September 9th, 2022. The number of awards are limited.

Visa support letters

ACM can provide visa support letters to attendees as well as authors with accepted papers, posters, or members of the conference committee. For visa support letters, refer all requests to supportletters@acm.org. Please allow up to 10 business days to receive a letter. All requests are handled in the order they are received. The information below should be included with the request:

  • Your name as it appears on your passport
  • Your current postal mailing address
  • Indicate that you are attending MODELS 2022 in Montreal, QC, Canada
  • Authors of accepted papers may request a visa support letter prior to registering for the conference; they should provide the title of their paper and indicate whether they are “sole author” or a “co-author"
  • Non-authors may request a visa support letter after registering for the conference; they should provide their registration confirmation number

Invitation letter

If you require an invitation letter, please contact the organizers. As per ACM policy, we can only issue an invitation letter for authors of an accepted paper in any track (main or satellite), members of the organizing committee, tutorial presenters, or workshop organizers.
