Cognitive biases have been shown to be critical issues in software engineering, especially in relation to re-planning and project failures or cancellations. Evidence suggests a strong connection between these biases and their negative impacts on software engineering projects. Although initial studies recognize their presence, there is still a significant gap in the development of effective strategies to combat them, especially regarding innovative projects. They are little explored academically and there is a notable lack of strategic models in the literature to address this issue. OBJECTIVE: The central focus of the work is to identify cognitive biases in the management of innovation software projects, using as a research base a large multinational company, with an annual portfolio of more than 200 projects, and to develop a way to mitigate them, thus contributing to the massification of knowledge and the impact of cognitive biases. METHOD: The Design Science Research (DSR) research method will be used as the best way to solve the problems of cognitive biases in innovative software projects in a pragmatic way. To this end, (1) a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was carried out, (2) the problem will be further investigated through complementary research, (3) technological alternatives will be studied for the development of an artifact and (4) application of this artifact in projects of a large company, with recommendations proposed to mitigate the impact of the biases found. EXPECTATION: The results will be evaluated based on the identification of cognitive biases that most affect each project under research and a basic framework will be proposed, referenced in concepts, strategic organizational models and practical recommendations, to eliminate these biases found in each project, contributing to the advancement and subsequent more detailed studies, once we have knowledge of those that most affect innovation software projects.
