Global Software Engineering in the Age of GitHub and Zoom. How collaboration technologies and the mainstreaming of open source have changed global software engineering.Keynote
Global software development has evolved rapidly since the first ICGSE in 2006. The tools we use have changed, and collaboration across distance has become vastly easier in many ways, yet stubbornly difficult in others. Perhaps the most important change of all is not just how we make software, but in the pervasive impact of the software we make in shaping the society we live in. Our sense of responsibility and our understanding of what it means to be a developer or a researcher must grow to reflect this.
